Guest Changing Times
Is it just me that doesn't like the way that posts within threads are no longer separated? It all seems a bit clumped together.
borobaz 147
It's very poorly laid out, and difficult to see what's going on... too much white space too. Not a fan, and not sure what customisation the site owner will have available on the template? Everything is Left aligned and there isn't enough space for current avatars to fit properly. When choosing to edit a post, the edit options are way over to the right hand side of the screen. Lots of work to do to make this work...
Guest Changing Times
It's been changed since I posted that message a few mins ago so maybe they are making changes as we speak.
Downsouth 6,326
Rob is still working on the site but it appears to be getting better as the minutes go by
borobaz 147
Will keep an eye on it tonight, might be a good idea to use this as a feedback thread DS?
Downsouth 6,326
Pretty sure Rob will be on this thread later to advise us all as to what is happening with the new format and am sure he will want feedback, I know certain functions are not ready yet and he is working on the mobile version
London_Student 2
The no separation and avatar alignment issues are what I'm seeing too at the moment (Mac Firefox), however it's fine in Safari. When it's displaying properly I think it looks quite nice though.
bugrit 31
Looks fine to me using Firefox in Ubuntu Linux and/or Windoze 7. It's clear that things are still in flux so please, people, if you have made an adverse comment, post here and let Rob (Mr oneBoro) know if/when things come good for you again. London_Student 2
Fixed just this very second, literally refreshed the page just now and now it looks fine!
bugrit 31
Neat! :)
Sarumite 86
It's getting there - please be patient and as London_Student says a refresh can help with issues.
borobaz 147
Yep, refreshed CTRL+F5... much better :)
borobaz 147
When clicking on 'edit' to edit a post, the options are still showing up over at the right hand side Rob.
bugrit 31
When clicking on 'edit' to edit a post, the options are still showing up over at the right hand side Rob. I see what you mean. The options appear under the Delete button for me, rather than under the Edit button where they should be.
Smoggie_in_Canada 10
Guys, I think the issues to do with the layout being clumped together are because your browser has cached the old version of the styles for the site. To clear your cache use the instructions from the site below for your browser (note you may need to log back in afterwards): http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/ @DownSouth, can you send the following to Rob please? (geek speak to follow :)) Rob, The site is looking good I like the new layout. On a lot of the sites we work on we cannot rely on the end users having enough knowledge to clear their cache of old CSS files. Therefore what we use is a mechanism called "Cache Busting", this is simply a way of telling the browser "this css is different to the last". To achieve this on the One Boro site you can simply append a version number to the end of the CSS url in a query string. e.g. where you currently reference this CSS file: link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href=" http://oneboro.co.uk/forum/cache/themes/theme2/global.css" change it to link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="http://oneboro.co.uk/forum/cache/themes/theme2/global.css?v=1" Then the next time you are ready to publish a new CSS you can simply update the v=1 to v=2, the beauty of this is that the browser uses the full URL to check it's cached files, but the web server only uses the file URL without the query string, therefore everything works as before but better. See: http://twosixcode.com/notes/view/simple-cache-busting-for-css-and-js If you don't want to carry the overhead of updating the query string manually each time you could use the following to automatically set the version number: http://markjaquith.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/force-css-changes-to-go-live-immediately/ (Note: I don't use php myself but the blog post above looks accurate) Also the above mechanism works for images and JavaScript files too Hope that helps!
