Reports claim that Portsmouth’s Jamal Lowe is attracting the eye of Middlesbrough FC, after his fine start to the season.

The 24-year-old forward has scored 23 times in 93 games for Portsmouth, who sit top of League One, following a move in January 2017 from non-League club Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Having signed on an initial 18-month contract, Portsmouth extended his contract to keep at the club until the summer of 2020, with the option for a further year.

Portsmouth reportedly turned down an £800,000 offer in the summer, however offers approaching £2m are expected to be touted in the January transfer window from Championship clubs such as Boro, Nottingham Forest and West Brom.

However, Portsmouth chief executive, Mark Catlin, insists the south-coast club have no intention of selling.

“We are under zero pressure from the owners for any of our players to leave this football club. Absolutely zero pressure” Mark Catlin said.

“We are not looking for any of our players to leave in January unless the manager wants them to leave. I never talk about individuals, but we have turned down offers for players within our squad and will continue to do so if we don’t feel it is right for us.”

Catlin further added, “you cannot stop other clubs’ interest in your players. I would be amazed if we didn’t receive any interest in our players considering how well we are playing.”

“There are a lot of clubs in the Championship either desperate to stay up or make a push for the Premier League. Their scouts are out there, I am sure we are on a lot of clubs’ radar, but that is a massive compliment, not a negative.”
