'Middlesbrough transfer rumours: Dutch winger close to signing, fee set for wantaway striker and midfielder set to leave'

It is going to be a busy few months at Middlesbrough with lots of incomings and outgoings now that the English transfer window has officially opened.

According to reports, Middlesbrough are going to increase their efforts in a bid to bring Dutch winger Sheraldo Becker to the club.

The 24-year-old is out of contract after playing his last game for Dutch club ADO Den Haag on Wednesday.

Boro are keen to bring the pacey midfielder to the Riverside Stadium whose direct style of play and powerful build has earned him a thumbs up from the club’s scouts.

Becker, who scored his last goal in a 2-0 win away at Feyenoord, managed eight goals and assisted another 11 this season.

Mikel to leave Middlesbrough

ESPN have reported that John Obi Mikel is set to leave Boro in search of Premier League football next season, and is expected to depart before the African Cup of Nations kicks off in June.

The former Chelsea midfielder, who joined Boro in January, went on to play every league game since signing.

His performances for Middlesbrough didn’t go unnoticed, as recently promoted Premier League sides Sheffield United and Norwich City have expressed interest in the 31-year-old.

Boro set Braithwaite price tag

Middlesbrough have decided to sell wantaway striker Martin Braithwaite for a fee in the region of £7 million, though it is unclear whether Leganes will pay that amount to make turn the loan deal for the striker into a permanent one.

Having made clear his intentions of leaving Boro, Braithwaite was forced to wait until January before he got his wish and joined La Liga side Leganes on a loan deal.

During his stay in La Liga, the 27-year-old claimed that he couldn’t see himself playing for Boro again, prompting speculations about his future.

His time at Leganes has proved to be a success, scoring four goals and accumulating five assists to help Leganes avoid relegation.
