Boro midfielder George Saville has made his loan move to Boro permanent for a reported fee of £8 million.

George Saville joined Boro on deadline day in the summer transfer window, in a loan move from Millwall. As part of the deal, Boro had the option to make the move a permanent switch, which the club have triggered.

Once the registration window reopened for the January transfer window, the paperwork for the midfielder was completed. The deal is expected to be for £8 million, a Millwall club-record sale fee.

Upon the announcement of the permanent switch, Saville said “I’m delighted, obviously.”

“It was a bit of a stop-start start for me, personally. But I’ve played a few games now and I just want to keep going and keep helping the team.”

“We all know what we want to achieve at the end of the season.”

“This squad is not far away, we have some really good players and quality. We have had a little blip, but we have picked up some good results lately, Derby away is a good point.”

“We have to keep going. All teams in the Championship will have blips, it is one of the hardest leagues in the world so we have to build on.”

Boro boss, Tony Pulis, has high expectations for the former Chelsea youngster. “Eventually that kid will captain the club” he said. “He’s a good player. He’s got the right character.”

“He’s been a London boy all his life and coming up here is so, so different,” he said.
