Boro Vs Hastings Utd (Cup)

Recommended Posts

Going to be a very basic thread, as I know nothing about our opposition and things like last 5 results aren't really relevant in these circumstances!

Main Talking Points:

> After the hugely disappointing result versus Derby, the cup is a welcome distraction from the league. How important is an FA cup run for you personally?

> What team would you like to see?

> Which youngsters would you like to see given a chance to impress?

> Which senior players would you like see start to provide a bit of experience a***st the kids?

> What is your predicted score?

I'd like to see

Lutwiler

Pilatos R Williams Weldon Halliday

Reach Thomson Bailey Zemmama

L Williams Miller

Time to give the regulars a breather but give match fitness to some coming back from injury

i'd say this looks decent but would probably put smallsy in for bailey. thommo and smallsy had a decent CM partnership going a couple of seasons ago when we finished the season strongly.

possibly rest R Williams as well

just had a look and it would appear they are draw specialists!

For what its worth, Hastings United are currently 17th in the Ryman Isthmian League (Premier Division).

http://www.isthmian.co.uk/

Overall record is:

Played - 17

Won - 3

Drawn - 9

Lost 5

For - 21

Against - 27

Away record is W1 D4 L4, so BU's comment about them being draw specialists seems to be on the money.

That said, we really should be able to beat them with a reserve / youth team. They don't strike me as potential giant-killers like the mighty Hednesford.

Had a quick look at their website http://www.hastingsunitedfc.co.uk/ and it seems their top goalscorer is Bradley Goldberg with 14 goals in 25 appearances (all competitions). Others include:

Zac Attwood - 6 in 24

Bailo Camara - 6 in 17

Dee Okojie - 6 in 28

Sean Ray - 6 in 24

Emnes should NOT play this game, he should be left out completely.

If he is to play, he will be cup tied and it will put a lot of clubs off.

Not necessarily - he'd still be available for league games, after all. Anyone would think you were looking to sell him. :P

Anyone heard any rumours about him moving on? If not, a run-out against lowly opposition might be just what he needs to get his mojo back.

A Cup run is always nice but this particular game is insignificant, given the opposition. For me, the importance of Cup games has lessened now we've got ourselves into a good league position.

> What team would you like to see?

A bunch of kids / reserve players...basically names I've not heard of before or players who've been on the fringes of the first team.

> Which youngsters would you like to see given a chance to impress?

Don't know our youth players well enough...would trust Dave Parnaby's judgement on this one.

> Which senior players would you like see start to provide a bit of experience a***st the kids?

After the Derby game, ideally all of them, but since they probably need a break, any of the first team lads coming back from injury who need a bit of game time to get match fit.

> What is your predicted score?

This will depend largely on the team selected. If Mowbray plays a lot of kids, it could be a tight game, say 2-1. If he goes for a mix of youth and experience I'd go for something like 5-1.
