Boro v Hull City (A) 2-4

Recommended Posts

 Boro V Hull (A)

Wednesday 5th April

19:45hrs

KCOM Stadium

Last Time Out

Swansea v Boro Kicked off and we started off brightly, pushing people forward and Hull seemed at a complete loss of how to deal with Traore so they took to just fouling him at  every opportunity. Then when that didn’t work we reverted right back to type and defended in numbers inviting more and more pressure until it fizzled out to its inevitable 0-0 draw.

Hull had a very different game but not sure if they will be open to a FA enquiry as they conceded relatively early only to score two goals to come from behind to win. Now I know as a Boro fan that this is not allowed and if you do go behind the sporting thing to do is to defend more rigorously to preserve your goal difference from getting worse, forsaking any chance of points in the meantime. Stand by Hull for some serious sanctions coming your way.

BORO

Boro has real problems in the full-back areas, particularly on the left, with both George Friend and Fabio doubts for the trip to Hull.

If neither are available then Stewart Downing may be forced to fill in at left-back, a position we watched him play before but seem lost and and out of his depth which made me feel sorry for the Boro born lad.

Gaston Ramirez was also forced off against Swansea and took our only creative spark with him so Boro, who must win this game, may go direct and start with both Alvaro Negredo and Rudy Gestede up front. But I can’t see that happening either

Personally I’d prefer us to go with 3 CB of Gibbo, Ayala, and Espinosa, leaving Downing and Stuani/Traore as wing backs.

Why????  Because I just want to see something different I’ve become so disenchanted of what I’ve witnessed since Christmas I just want us to have a go.

HULL CITY

Michael Dawson is fit enough to start but may struggle to displace either Ranocchia or Magurie, while Marco Silva is still without the suspended Tom Huddlestone following his red card against Everton.

Curtis Davies was sacrificed at the break against West Ham and his replacement Kamil Grosicki should certainly keep his place having set up both goals as Hull came from behind to win.

Evandro remains a doubt, with the hosts potentially reverting to a 4-4-2 formation having improved after the interval at the weekend.

A View from the other side

I will fill this in later when i can find an opposing thread

Team I’d like to see

--------------------Valdes-----------------

--------Espinosa—Ayala—Gibbo------

Traore-------------------------------Downing

---------Clayton-----DeRoon----------

------Stauni----Negredo---Gestede---

What the Bookies say

Hull win           21/20

Draw               23/10

Boro win          16/5

Uwe’s bet

Game to finish 0-0  13/2 (we do have more 0-0 results than anyone in the league with 6)

Anyway boys and girls I’ll keep this short and sweet and pass it over to you

Oh yippee, another game.

We did the wingbacks thing at Palace mate and it wasn't exactly a raging success. Mind you nothing has been a raging success to be fair so why not, we're rubbish either way.

If Chambers and Friend are fit then I would play them both.

Valdes

Fabio

Chambers

Gibson

Friend

Clayton

DeRoon

Ramirez (Bamford if injured)

Fischer

Traore

Negredo

Think the defence picks itself when fit. Clayton and DeRoon are our best centre mids. The Ramirez (or Bamford) and Fischer behind the striker probably offers the most movement off the ball and most goal threat we have in these positions. Traore just because he can. Negredo because he will benefit more from having players around him and brings people into play more than Gestede.

Marco Silva hasn't lost a home game once in the last 39 games that he's managed. Rudy Gestede hasn't been on a winning side in the premier league for.....you've guessed it, 39 matches.

Which of these 2 will be the first to reach 40?

I'm assuming Ramirez and Fabio are out. Picking the team for this is tough. Such an important game.

Valdes

Gibson

Ayala

Bernardo

Barragan

Fischer

Clayton

De Roon

Traore

Negredo

Stuani

I think this is a balanced team that could create and actually take some chances.

I'll change my mind about 10 times before Wednesday.

This is probably the sort of game AK would get spot on. Oh the irony.

I'm certain that Downing will play, I just can't imagine Woodgate and Agnew leaving him out.

Or play Husband at left-back.  Crazy I know, after all he is a specialist left-back.

Is he any good? I've forgotten.

I don't think he's played any competitive football this year, has he?

So, if that is the case, probably not - he'll be rusty AF.

I don't think the team will of been under as much pressure to win as they will be at hull, effectively we could be relegated if we lose i cant see us picking many if any points after the Burnley game.

As for team selection same back for but if friend is back have him instead of foul throw specialist barragan. Probably same midfield as well except swap ramirez for fischer if he is injured, swap negredo for gestede. I think that team would be good enough to beat hull.

Team id like to see is -

GK Valdes - Our best keeper

RB Barragan - Really angry about that throwing still but cant name anyone better for RB

CB Fry - Not bloody benardo hes useless

CB Gibson - No comment needed

LB Husband - downing is defiantly not a lb, so Husband is the obvious choice considering the other 2 are injured

RW Bamford - Stop the stupidity of buying a 8 mil player and not playing him. Also will cut into the box when the ball is on the left wing getting another striker in the box.

CM Clayton - No comment needed

CM De Roon - No comment needed

Lw Gaston - Our best player going forward.

St Gestede - One of our only hopes of getting some goals this season

St Troare/Stuani - If your not gonna play Stuani is his best position in my opinion, why not try a player that frightens teams with his pace. If we can get gestede to hold the ball up and lift it over the top of the defence with his pace Troare should be able in behind one on one against the keeper 9 times out of 10 at some point hes got to score.

If we were to win this one and then Burnley we would then have as good a chance of survival as Hull and Swansea but it's just not going to happen so not sure why I'm getting my hopes up.

Steve Agnew has blew his chance for me. We should have went to Swansea and played like we wanted to win. Instead it was the same old crap we have become accustomed to this season.

We have to play for the 3 points on Wednesday. Just throw the *** kitchen sink at them.

A win and we might, just might, start believing again. We've seen Sunderland, Fulham, Leicester pull off The Great Escape. Now it's our turn.
